How Failover/Failback Function Works?

Feb 16, 2022

When network equipment is disconnected from the Internet, resulting in the disconnection of applications, the connection must be restored as soon as possible in order to minimize the risks of network loss and relevant losses.

Users can select primary or secondary WAN interfaces based on the conditions of the usage environment. When the system detects that the primary WAN interface malfunctions and fails to connect, the secondary WAN interface will be used automatically instead to connect to the Internet (Failover) and maintain the connection. If the system detects that the malfunctioned primary WAN interface has been restored and can connect normally again, the connection will be switched from the secondary WAN interface back to the primary WAN interface automatically (Failback) and resume normal connection. In this way, the Internet connection can be kept stable.

Dual-SIM

In addition, using the Billion LTE Dual-SIM Router allows users to insert SIM cards from two different telecommunication companies. After the system boots up, it will first connect to the Internet using the SIM card in the SIM-1 slot. When the system detects that Internet connection is not possible with the SIM-1 card, it will use the SIM card in the SIM-2 slot for connection instead. The connection continues until the system discovers that Internet connection is not possible with the SIM-2 card. In this case, the SIM-1 card will be used again for Internet connection. This function is designed specifically for vehicles that travel to different regions. Since service qualities differ due to the network deployment by different telecommunication companies, this function can select the better telecom service to keep the Internet connection stable.
