Dear Billion User,
Welcome to the first newsletter of 2012. We will be aiming to send out the Billion newsletter on a quarterly basis from now on, to keep you abreast of latest developments within the Billion product range, including information on our sales and marketing activities in the UK, support tips and firmware upgrade details, and also give you the first glimpse of our new product launches planned for 2012. Since our last newsletter we have launched a UK forum for Billion products, introduced IPv6 support into our best selling 7800 series, and expanded our current portfolio with a number of new products. Details below. We had a great year in 2011 as more and more customers discovered the reliability and performance of Billion products, allied to our proactive UK customer service and support. A big thank you to all our customers who have supported us up until now, and we look forward to working with you to make 2012 an even more successful year.

• BiPAC 7800N |
• BiPAC 7800N now shipping with IPv6 firmware
The 7800N Billion is now shipping with IPv6 firmware, Failover feature and PPTP VPN support (firmware version 1.06e).
IPv6 has been in testing for some time now on our own dedicated Entanet IPv6 line, and has also been tested and approved for use with Andrews and Arnold, IDNet and a select group of other ISPs offering IPv6 connectivity.
Failover can now be set up by accessing the Dual WAN mode from the web interface of the 7800N.
In Dual WAN mode, simply choose which interface (ADSL or EWAN) for WAN1 and which for WAN2, and you can then select the failover parameters (how many pings before failover, time between pings etc.) between the two.
The latest firmware also supports 2 x PPTP VPN tunnels for secure remote access.
The new updated (Dec 2011) full user manual for the 7800N can be found here:

• BiPAC 2073N |
• BiPAC 2073N now supports wireless guest access
The BiPAC 2073N wireless AV200 homeplug now supports guest SSID feature.
For those new to powerline technology, the 2073N adapter uniquely combines a high-speed wireless 'N' access point with a HomePlug AV adapter, giving the best of both worlds in one easy-to-use device - super fast HomePlug networking that allows speeds of up to 200Mbps through your existing mains power supply network, and up to 300 Mbps high-speed wireless connectivity.
Great for use in larger homes, garages, outbuildings, or where the thickness of the walls prevents good wireless coverage. The 2073N will carry your internet connection through your existing powerline network to inaccessible parts of the premises, and then relay it wirelessly to your laptop, desktop, games console, printer, camera or any wireless device in client mode. WEP, WPA, WPA2 wireless encryption can be set up via a simple web interface to maximize your wireless security.
And now with the guest SSID feature you can set up password protected wireless connectivity for your primary SSID, and a separate wireless guest hotspot with its own wireless SSID and security password, isolated from the primary SSID, for occasional guest users.
The 2073N is part of the P106N wireless homeplug starter kit, and is also available as a single unit to add to an existing AV200 network.

• BiPAC 7700N |
• Billion launch entry level Broadcom wireless modem router - BiPAC 7700N
Billion have recently launched the latest model in its “service provider” range, the BiPAC 7700N.
The 7700N offers improved wireless coverage using 300 Mbps wireless N technology and incorporates a Broadcom chipset for optimum stability and best performance for a sub £50 router.
With a small footprint, the 7700N is ideal for a flat or smaller home scenario where the larger 7800N may be unnecessary overkill. |

• BiPAC P108 |
• BiPAC P108 - 500 Mbps gigabit Homeplug Adaptors
The new BiPAC P108 Homeplug product is a pair of wired Homeplug adapters (2 x 2075) using the latest AV500 standard offering speeds of up to 500 Mbps through existing power lines.
Homeplug technology tends to have an overhead of around 55% and this was borne out by the results from our real world lab test environment at our offices in London.
We managed around 240 Mbps throughput with the AV500s, quite an increase from the AV200 range, which normally deliver around the 80-90 Mbps mark.
The 2075 plugs have an integrated gigabit port to maximise the use of the AV500 technology and are a great accessory to Billion’s gigabit 7800N router. They come as single units (BiPAC 2075) or in a pair (BiPAC P108).
The AV500 and AV200 can communicate with each other quite happily, showing an overall increase in speed on the network. But neither the AV200 or AV500 will communicate with the older 85 Mbps homeplug technology.
